o ART CLUB
Students participate in activities to enrich the visual
environment of the school and community as needed. Possible
projects might be designing a Christmas float, mural, or stage
sets. Club dues are $2 and the club sponsor is Mrs. Stubbs.
o BETA CLUB
The National BETA Club is an honors service organization.
Students maintaining a 90 average are invited to join. We
participate in numerous service projects throughout the year.
Seniors who have actively participated in the organization
for 2 years wear a blue cord at graduation. First time members
dues are $15, and returning members dues are $5. Club
sponsor is Mrs. Mayfield.
o BPA
BPA is a youth organization for students enrolled in Information
Technology classes.
The field for which we prepare our students; emphasizes
that we educate our members to work efficiently, not only
in an office setting, but also in a wide variety of business
situations.
Students in BPA have the opportunity to take advantage of
a wide variety of professional development opportunities as
well as developing leadership skills. The members develop
all these skills while at the same time give back to the community
in various service projects. State and national dues are $17.

o CRMC CAREER CLUB
The Career Club at Cookeville Regional is offered to high
school students throughout Putnam County. Those who are or
think that they might be interested in a future career in
health care are welcome. We meet once a month at the hospital
and cover everything from open-heart surgery to the latest
in cancer treatment. With each meeting, you get a chance to
meet professionals in the field, tour the area they work,
and/or learn a hands on skill that is a part of their daily
work. You may also have the opportunity to job shadow a professional
in the field that you are thinking about for your future.
The Career Club is your chance to get a better idea of what
you want to be and what you need to do to get there. For more

o DRAMA CLUB
This organization is for those students who are interested
in dramatic arts. We will be working with professional actors,
dancers, songwriters, and stage people during the second semester
to produce our own dramatic work here at MHS. We may also
take some trips to dramatic events. Commitment and enthusiasm
are mandatory. Club sponsor is Ms. Fragopoulos.
o FCCLA
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
A nationally recognized service and leadership organization
committed to
providing leadership opportunities with the purpose of strengthening
individuals, families, schools and communities. State and
national dues are $12. Club sponsor is Ms. Plant.
o FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
This is an interdenominational club for anyone that desires
to fellowship with other Christians. Its purpose is to provide
an environment of Christian fellowship and allow each member
to grow in the knowledge of Christ. We are a support group
within the school for everyone. Club sponsor is Mrs. Garrison.
o FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA
Future Teachers of America is sponsored by MHS to provide
high school students with worthwhile professional experiences
related to their opportunities in teaching. FTA clubs assist
middle and high school students in exploring teaching as a
career choice, provide a realistic understanding of teaching,
and encourage students from diverse backgrounds to think seriously
about the teaching profession. Club dues are $5 and club sponsor
is Mrs. Wilson.
o HORSESHOE CLUB
This club is open to all MHS students who enjoy this outside
activity. During club meetings students play horseshoes out
back. Club members will complete one service activity during
the school year. Club sponsor is Mrs. Farley.
o HUMANITIES
This club is open to all students, not just those taking
Humanities class. We are involved in humanitarian projects,
such as Feeding the Homeless, Walk for Wishes; MS Walk, Habitat
for Humanity. Etc. We also participate in fine-arts activities.
It is a club to promote hands-on learning activities. Only
those students involved in humanitarian work are permitted
to participate in activities. Club sponsor is Ms. Fragopoulos.
o INTERACT
The Interact club is the student branch of Rotary International.
It is a club that is solely based on service to our school,
community, nation, and world. Service projects will be carried
out throughout the year. Any student who wishes to serve their
world is invited to be a part of our club. Club sponsor is
Mrs. Garrison.
o MHS JEAN DAY CLUB
The Jean Day Club is open to all faculty and staff who attend
the faculty meetings during the week. Jeans may be worn on
the following Friday after a faculty meeting. In addition,
faculty and staff members may gain Jean tokens to be used
on any day of their choosing. Club sponsors are Mrs. Medley
and Mr. Matheney.
o JUNIOR CIVITAN
Jr. Civitan is a program of Civitan International. The purpose
is to provide all members with personal and career development
opportunities while improving schools and communities through
volunteer service. As a member youll receive the international
magazine and have access to message boards, e-mail, and online
shopping. Members will be inducted at a banquet hosted by
Civitan. Club membership dues are $1. If interested in joining,
please see Ms.Pauli for specific requirements.
o LEO CLUB
The Leo club is the school branch of the Lions club.
This club is a service-based organization that serves to improve
eyesight locally, nationally, and worldwide. The MHS students
who have the opportunity to participate in this club will
serve the community in outreach projects. It will provide
the students with special activities and educational knowledge.
Club membership dues are $1. If you are interested in becoming
a member of this club, please see Mrs. Farley.
o LIME GREEN CLUB
Lime Green club is a service organization. Last year we
raised money for Katrina victims, made Christmas cards for
the nursing home, and sent care packages to Iraq. Our motto
is wear lime greendo good things. We celebrate
by wearing our lime shirts on Thursdays. Club membership is
$1.00. Club sponsors are Mrs. Clift and Mrs. Medley.
o NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
The National Honor Society is an organization which honors
students who, throughout their high school careers, have demonstrated
that they possess the characteristics of leadership, scholarship,
service, and character. Students who maintain a 3.3 grade
point average are invited to apply during the spring of their
junior year. These students are honored with a blue cord at
graduation. One-time dues are $10 and club sponsor is Mrs.
Mayfield.
o NEWSPAPER
Cattales staff is chosen by application. Please see Mrs.
Baker if interested.
o NOT IN MY SCHOOL
Not in my School club is a group of students of all grades
in the high school. The club strives to educate and understand
the importance of abstaining from the use of alcohol, drugs,
and violence. This club emphasizes good citizenship in the
community. Club dues are $1 and club sponsor is Officer Bennett.
o PEP CLUB
A new club at MHS designed to promote school spirit. Throughout
the year,
members will make signs and posters and hang them around
the school building
to encourage the sports teams and to promote attendance
at games and events.
Prompting school spirit at games with face painting, signs,
and a student
seating section are also part of the Pep Club. Club sponsor
is Ms. Plant.
o POOL SHOOTING COMPUTER CLUB
Laugh at us now, work for us later!! The computer club will
be teaching from general xbox modifications and repair, computer
assembly and repair, to video production and special effects.
Anything computer or electronic related...is fair game. Coach
West is the club sponsor.
o SKILLS USA
This is a vocational club for students in construction tech
to prepare students to be successful in the world of work.
Club dues are $10 and club sponsor is Mr. Covington.
o YEARBOOK
Yearbook staff is selected by application in the spring
for the following school year. Please see Mrs. Riddle if interested.
o STUDENT GOVERNMENT
The Monterey High School Student Government acts as the
go-between for the student body and faculty to try to cultivate
positive attitudes, positive behaviors, and to promote school
spirit. This council is elected from the student body by the
student body. This group sponsors such activities as a canned
food drive before Thanksgiving, writing Christmas cards to
the residents of the local nursing home, sponsoring the intramural
Spring Fling games, and others throughout the year as needed.
